What to Look For in December

Although the end of the year will be here soon, there are still a number of great grant opportunities coming up in December. Funding for music programs, libraries, and science education are available to teachers and educators across the United States. Below is a selection of grants to be aware of

American Library Services for Children

“Light the Way: Outreach to the Underserved” Grants are offered to libraries to conduct outreach programs to underserved populations through new programs or the expansion of existing programs. Preference is given to programs serving children with learning or physical differences, ESL speakers, children from nontraditional school environments or in foster care, children in the juvenile justice system, or those who need accommodation services. The award consists of a $3,000 grant administered by the Association for Library Service to Children and sponsored by Candlewick Press in honor of author Kate DiCamillo.

Applications are accepted October 1 through December 1, 2018

 

 

Walmart Foundation Logo

Through the Community Grant Program, individual Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs, and logistics facilities support the needs of their communities by providing grants to local organizations. The foundation requires that all funds be directed to programs that fall within Walmart’s focus areas of community, sustainability, and career opportunity. Walmart is interested in supporting programs that provide after-school enrichment, tutoring, or vocational training for low-income individuals and families.

Applications are due December 31, 2018

 

 

 

The Air Force Association seeks to affect student learning by funding grants to meet the unmet and unfunded educational needs of students. The Educator Grant program promotes aerospace education activities in kindergarten through grade 12 classrooms. The program encourages development of innovative aerospace activities within the prescribed curriculum. Funding may be used to purchase classroom science supplies and demonstration kits, science and technology software, science manipulatives, supplies for making flying objects, supplies for a robotics program, and more. Forty grants of $500 are available to educators throughout the United States.

Applications are due December 15, 2018

 

 

The Foundation for Bluegrass Music makes grants to support educational, literary, media, cultural, performance, and historic preservation projects and programs of public benefit that directly involve bluegrass music, including activities that address a priority need or opportunity for the bluegrass music community. Up to $2,000 is available to programs that focus on bringing bluegrass music closer to young audiences.
