John Bowden has written multiple grant applications and won numerous grants over the course of his career. He has taught in Detroit, Michigan; New Jersey; and Marshall, Minnesota. Now retired, he was an educator for 41 years and currently donates his time as a volunteer tutor and “foster grandparent” at Talahi Elementary School in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

He applied for funding from the Central Minnesota Arts Board for a project called “STEM Plant Life and Artistic Paintings.” The grant amount he requested was $3,000. The objective was to educate students about arts and visual perspectives as well as STEM in a multidisciplinary project.
