Store-Based Giving Grants

Ross Stores, Inc. Foundation provides support for youth-oriented programs and services. The foundation makes Store-Based Giving Grants in the areas of building academic achievement and life skills in economically disadvantaged youth. Academic achievement support includes a focus on literacy; science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); tutoring; stay-in-school efforts; and college readiness.

The Paradigm Challenge

Sponsored by Project Paradigm and the American Red Cross

The Paradigm Challenge is a competition developed by Project Paradigm and the American Red Cross. The challenge is intended to inspire youth to use science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills and kindness, creativity, and collaboration to help solve real-life problems and make a difference. This year’s challenge brings back the first three challenge projects, reducing injuries and fatalities from home fires; helping the environment through the reduction of waste; and improving personal health through wellness and healing; and adds a new project, the security of global food system.

Deadline: Applications are due February 23, 2019.

 

Arts in Education and Sapling Grants

Sponsored by Laird Norton Family Foundation

The Laird Norton Family Foundation offers Arts in Education and Sapling Grants that focus on children, youth, and education. Funding aims to increase and improve prekindergarten through grade 12 arts learning in US public schools. Programs that enhance students’ educational outcomes and integrate the arts within content areas receive priority. Sapling Fund grants support programs and organizations that cater specifically to youth. The foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals or letters of inquiry. However, interested applicants are encouraged to make initial contact with the foundation to describe their work, where they operate, and the grant programs they are most interested in for potential future grant funding.

Learning Disabilities Grants

Learning Disabilities of America Foundation

The Learning Disabilities Foundation of America strives to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities and support creative and innovative solutions to help them achieve academic success. Funding is intended for scientific, literary, and educational services, as well as bringing public awareness to learning disabilities. Proposed projects may include innovative research into the causes, the prevention or the alleviation of learning disabilities; distinctive public awareness programs to advance public understanding of the needs of person with learning disabilities; or innovative programs to advance achievement of persons with learning disabilities.

Deadline: Applications are due April 15, 2019.

 

Education Grants

The Initial Teaching Alphabet (i.t.a.) is a phonemic alphabet based on the phonemic sound system of the English language. It was designed to present the beginning reader and writer with a logical and reliable reading and writing system. The foundation promotes literacy through the use of the i.t.a. to help students perform better in school, have a healthy self-image, and become lifelong learners.

Deadline: Applications are due April 1, annually.
