AmeriCorps State and National Grants focus grant making in six areas. Within the education focus area, grants provide support and/or facilitate access to services and resources that contribute to improved educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged children; improved school readiness; improved educational and behavioral outcomes for student in low-achieving elementary, middle, and high schools; supporting economically disadvantaged students in preparing for success in post-secondary educational institutions; and improving student academic performance in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Community Action Grants

AAUW

AAUW, through its Community Action Grants Program, provides funds for innovative programs or nondegree research projects that promote education and equality for women and girls. Special consideration is given to projects focused on kindergarten through grade 12 and community college girls’ and women’s achievement in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, and to those projects that seek community partners such as local schools or school districts, businesses, and other community-based organizations.

Deadline: January 15, 2017

 

K-12 Education Requests

St Jude Medical Foundation

The St. Jude Medical Foundation makes grants in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education; next generation technology programs; and educational wellness programs. In previous years, the foundation has partnered with the University of Minnesota Foundation to provide mentoring opportunities for Twin Cities area youth in which student athletes assist elementary and middle school students with healthy living, setting educational goals, and classroom visits focused on mathematics and science experiments and lessons.

Deadline: Applications are accepted year-round.

 

Les Paul Music Grants

The Les Paul Foundation

The Les Paul Foundation supports music-focused activities. The foundation makes grants for music, music engineering, and sound programs for youth; medical research; programs related to hearing impairment; and public exhibits. Previous grants were used to fund music camps, music and hearing programs, and classroom projects.

Deadlines: January 15 and September 15, annually

 

Education Grants

Applied Materials Foundation

The Applied Materials Foundation has a special interest in funding education grant proposals that benefit students in kindergarten through grade 12; focus on traditional skills such as reading, writing, mathematics, science, technology, and other subjects that prepare young people for entering the workforce; address critical education needs through innovative approaches to learning; expand existing efforts in order to reach more students or a wider geographic area; actively partner with other nonprofit groups to create, implement, or evaluate shared programs; offer opportunities for employee engagement; and address community needs. Eligible applicants should serve communities near where Applied Materials does business. Check the website for geographic eligibility.
