Kindergarten through grade 12 teachers can apply for a $1,000 grant to deploy technology in the classroom. Award for Outstanding Teacher
Sponsored by International Society for Technology Education
This award from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) recognizes one teacher who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in and understanding of educational technology achievement. The award is open to all prekindergarten through grade 12 classroom teachers. Nominees are judged based on their ability to deliberately plan for and incorporate the use of technology to improve an education setting, improvement of their professional practice through the exploration of creative applications for technology, promotion of the effective use of digital tools across local and global learning communities, and leadership in their school or professional community with a vision of technology infusion. Winners receive a cash prize of $1,500, and a $1,000 travel stipend to attend the ISTE Conference and Expo.

The Captain Planet Foundation, Inc. is offering $2,500 grants through a competitive program for schools and nonprofit organizations. Grants are awarded to support inquiry-based projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields that leverage technology or use nature-based designs to address environmental problems in local communities.

Deadline: March 15, annually

Donated Computers and Other Technology
Sponsored by National Cristina Foundation
The National Cristina Foundation focuses on service-providing organizations targeting people with disabilities, students at risk, and economically disadvantaged populations. The goal is to support the delivery of essential educational and training programs through provision of suitable technology resources. The foundation works to promote technology reuse by educating businesses and the public that technology resources coming out of their first place of use can be given a second productive life for developing human potential. The foundation’s online nonprofit locator enables donors of used computers and other electronic hardware to select a local charity or school in their area of the country they choose to receive their donation of equipment.

Deadline: Applications are accepted year-round.

These five opportunities are only a small sample of the technology funding available to educators. For more opportunities, search “Technology” or “Technology Education” in the Custom Search. We hope to bring you more funding to be thankful for this holiday season!
