One Class at a Time
Sponsored by KTBS-3 and Barksdale Federal Credit Union, awarded by National Association of Broadcasters

KTBS-3 and Barksdale Federal Credit Union offer academic enrichment awards of $1,000 to classes in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. Awards must directly affect the students’ learning experience and are offered twice a month throughout the school year. Previous grants were awarded to projects involving Lego robots, biology programs about genetics, and classroom technology. Teachers, PTAs, college professors, and any school-based club or organization in the KTBS-3 viewing area are eligible to apply.

Shade Structure Grant Program
Sponsored by American Academy of Dermatology

American Academy of Dermatology Shade Structure Grants are awarded to public schools and nonprofit organizations for installing permanent shade structures for outdoor locations that are not protected from the sun, such as playgrounds, pools, or recreation spaces. The academy shade structure grant program is open to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide services, programs, and curricula to children and teenagers 18 and younger.

Deadline: November 28, 2016

Community Action Grants
Sponsored by AAUW

Community Action Grants Program, provides funds for innovative programs or nondegree research projects that promote education and equality for women and girls. Special consideration is given to projects focused on kindergarten through grade 12 and community college girls’ and women’s achievement in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, and to those projects that seek community partners such as local schools or school districts, businesses, and other community-based organizations.

Deadline: January 15, 2017

Lawrence Foundation Grants

The Lawrence Foundation is focused on making grants to support environmental, education, human services, and other causes. However, the foundation’s interests are fairly diverse and may occasionally lead into other areas. Nonprofit organizations with public charity status and public schools and libraries are eligible for grants.

Education Grants
Sponsored by The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc.

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation supports organizations that serve lower-income individuals and assist vulnerable and at-risk populations in the communities in which they reside. Program areas include older adult services, workforce development, basic human needs and health, disabilities, education, and general community support. The education program area focuses on early childhood education; science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); and out of school time.

Deadline: Letters of Inquiry are accepted on a rolling basis.
