Fall is a busy time for grants seekers. Many deadlines and contests are set in the fall. This is great for educators who are just starting out the school year and looking for funding to implement new ideas. Here are the grants GetEdFunding members viewed the most in the month of September.

 

AmeriCorps State and National Grants

AmeriCorps State and National Grants focus grant making in six areas: disaster services, economic opportunity, education, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, and veterans and military families. Within the education focus area, grants provide support and/or facilitate access to services and resources that contribute to improved educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged children; improved school readiness; improved educational and behavioral outcomes for student in low-achieving elementary, middle, and high schools; supporting economically disadvantaged students in preparing for success in post-secondary educational institutions; and improving student academic performance in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Deadlines: December 7, 2016, for optional Notices of Intent; January 18, 2017, for applications

 

Grants for Grades K–5

Toshiba America Foundation

The Toshiba America Foundation offers grants to elementary-level teachers for projects that focus on improving science and mathematics education. The goal is to provide teachers with additional funding to support innovative ideas for hands-on classroom projects, and applications must be for project-based learning. The foundation strongly encourages projects planned and led by individual teachers or teams of teachers for their own classrooms. Any kindergarten through grade 5 teacher in a public or private (not for profit) school is eligible.

Deadline: October 1, annually

 

American Honda Foundation Education Grants

American Honda Foundation

The American Honda Foundation supports education with a specific focus on the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM); the environment; job training; and literacy. It engages in grant making that reflects the basic tenets, beliefs, and philosophies of Honda companies, which are characterized by the following qualities: imaginative, creative, youthful, scientific, humanistic, and innovative.

Deadlines: August 1 and February 1, annually, for new applicants; May 1, annually, for returning applicants

CLF helps individuals gain access to schools, from preschool through college, by issuing grants and taking an active role in exploring new approaches to education.

In the area of Educator Leadership Development, Boeing supports school and teacher leadership programs that support educators in shifting their practices so that they are equipped to create learning environments that allow students to practice and acquire twenty-first century skills. In the area of Problem-based Learning, Boeing funds problem-based learning opportunities related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) experiences and skills for students and their families.
