Action for Healthy Kids

Game On Grants fund physical activity and nutrition initiatives to support institutions becoming recognized as health-promoting schools. The grant provides funding for physical activity initiatives, such as facilities and equipment for recess, playgrounds, play spaces, classroom energizers, physical education, intramural programs, and programs before or after school that offer physical activity. Funding is also provided for nutrition initiatives, such as nutrition education, school gardens, competitive foods or smart snacks, salad bars, smarter lunchrooms, healthy fundraising, or classroom celebrations that introduce healthy foods.

InvenTeams

InvenTeams

InvenTeams is a national grants initiative of the Lemelson-MIT program that is designed to excite high school students to cultivate creativity and experience invention. InvenTeam students rely on inquiry, hands-on problem solving as they integrate lessons from STEM to develop invention prototypes. InvenTeams are composed of high school students, teachers, and industry mentors. Working collaboratively, InvenTeams identify a problem to be solved, conduct research on the problem, and develop a prototype invention. InvenTeam projects span many fields, such as assistive devices, environmental technologies, consumer goods, and wearable technology.

The Computers for Learning (CFL) program evolved as a guide for implementing Executive Order 12999, Educational Technology: Ensuring Opportunity for all Children in the Next Century. The executive order encourages agencies, to the extent permitted by law, to transfer excess computers and related peripheral equipment directly to schools and some educational nonprofit organizations. The CFL program specifically matches the computer needs of schools and educational nonprofit organizations with excess equipment in Federal agencies. The CFL program’s goal is to make modern computer technology an integral part of every classroom so that every child has the opportunity to be educated to his or her full potential.

Deadline: Registration and requests are accepted year-round.
